Natural Wood

Our aparthotel is primarily made of wood. Since our family has owned a carpentry business for over 80 years, we have a special love for the raw material wood. This natural building material gives the hotel a unique, cozy atmosphere. In the apartments, in particular, the wood used in the floors, walls, and living areas creates a warm and "pleasantly scented" ambiance. The four main types of wood used in the hotel are spruce, pine, oak, and maple.

SPRUCE

Spruce trees are evergreen and can grow up to 60 meters tall, living for as long as 600 years. The trunk diameter can reach up to 1 meter, with a maximum of 2.5 meters. Making up around 60% of Austria's productive forests, spruce is the most important native tree species. Spruce contains essential oils and resins, which give it a pleasant scent.

PINE

The pine is a species from the family of conifers. Its natural habitat includes the Alps and the Carpathians. The tree can grow up to 25 meters tall and live for up to 1,000 years. The heartwood, which is initially reddish and later turns red-brown, has a strong, aromatic scent due to its high content of essential oils and resins, which are known to have blood pressure and heart rate-lowering effects. A specialty is pine schnapps, made from the tree's cones.

MAPLE

The maple tree reaches a height of 20 to 30 meters and can live up to 150 years. Maple wood is considered one of the most valuable types of hardwood. It is especially hard and durable.

OAK

The oak tree grows between 20 and 50 meters tall and has wide, gnarled branches. Its flowers are greenish, and from them develop acorns, which sit in a cup-like structure. Oak trees can live for a very long time, with the pedunculate oak, for instance, reaching up to 1,300 years of age.
